According to the 2019 AIGA Design Census, only three percent of interior designers are Black or African American. Research by the Black furniture designer Jomo Tariku revealed that only 14 of 4,417 branded furniture collections with major brands in the past two years involved Black collaborators.
Porter is committed to raising the visibility of BIPOC makers and owners in the corporate commercial channel. We are launching a training program to introduce high school Juniors to the world of commercial real estate, with classes specific to Design, Project Management and Brokerage. And we have established an Emerging Leaders Training Program that provides tools and information to help young professionals thrive.
